23 ways to reuse old dryer sheets

So you used your coupons to get a great deal on dryer sheets.  Awesome!! But don't you hate to use something once and throw it away?  I do.  Here is a list of 23 ways to reuse those old dryer sheets!

1. Use it to dust your television screen. The anti-static chemicals in a dryer sheet will help to repel dust and lint.
2. Use old dryer sheets to easily wipe up talcum powder, flour, and other messes of this type.
3. Used sheets usually have enough fragrance in them to freshen up other areas in your home. Stuff them in tennis shoes, place them in closets, in laundry hampers and in pieces of luggage -- anywhere your house needs a little "refreshment."
4. Run a sheet over a piece of thread when you're doing sewing tasks. The thread won't tangle up as easy.
5. Have pet hair on your clothing? Simply wipe it off with a used dryer sheet! Also works great on cloth furniture too!
6. Keep dust and other contaminants off your glass computer screen by carefully wiping it with an old sheet.
7. Did you purchase some old, musty books at a garage sale or thrift shop? Make them smell good again! Simply place the books in a sealed plastic bag with a used dryer sheet. Allow the bag to sit undisturbed for a day or two, then remove the contents. The musty smell will be gone!
8. Got a problem with mice? Find where they are entering your house and stuff the hole shut with a used sheet. Mice won't chew through the smelly material.
9. Place a used dryer sheet in the bag of your vacuum. Sweep your house, and, once you're done, the air will smell as fresh as your clothes do.
10. These wonders of the 70's are also said to repel mosquitoes as well as other annoying, flying insects. Don't rub it on you. Instead, stick a used sheet in your belt loop.
11. You can use dryer sheets to clean and polish the chrome on your vehicles.

12. Is there a build-up of soap scum on your glass shower door? Simply use an old dryer sheet to eliminate the mess.
13. Is the interior of your car or truck smelling a little stale? Forget the pine tree on a string! Place a few used dryer sheets under the seats of your vehicle instead!
14. Use sheets to clean and polish the glass lens of your eye glasses. They're not recommended for plastic lens, though!
15. Is your hair dry and full of static electricity? Gently wipe a used dryer sheet over your head to get rid of it.
16. Dryer sheets make great dusting cloths for your wooden furniture.
17. Help keep dust and other contaminants out of your house. Simply place a used sheet inside every furnace/AC register in your house. Make sure it covers the openings and replace once they are dirty.
18. Keep your window blinds clean longer by wiping them periodically with used dryer sheets. The anti-static properties of the product will actually help to repel dust and dirt.
19. Are your scissors not cutting as smooth as they should? Wipe the blades clean with a used dryer sheet to remedy this problem.
20. Used dryer sheets make great little cloths for quick shine ups in the bathroom and kitchen too. Just use one on each of your chrome faucets and see how brightly they shine!
21. Soak your used paintbrushes in warm water with a dryer sheet, and that pesky latex paint will come off in under a minute.
22. Clean off your iron to remove any sticky gunk.
23. Use them to help make fire starters.  This is a great way to reuse the dryer lint too!

This is a list that I compiled from multiple websites.  I did not see any sources on the sites I used, however I did see a list on realsimple.com.  I'm not sure if that is where the list originated from but they are known for fabulous lists! :)

2012

2012 is fast approaching.  Can you believe it?
Usually I say 'This is the year that I'm going to get skinny.  And get organized.  And blah blah blah.'  And then 2 weeks later I've already forgotten.
Anyone else have this problem?!?
So this year I'm using one of my newest addictions Pinterest to keep me organized. I started a board for each month for things I want to do. (Here is the link to my January board) That way breaking up those big goals (getting and STAYING organized, making Christmas gifts for everyone, starting to meal plan) is done and hopefully the big goal will be easier to accomplish.

Here is my to do list for January:
To Make:

First I need to make these autograph books.  Quick!  Josh and I are leaving for Disney World on the 12th and I would love to have one of these for him to take with us!  I got the idea from the blog Dixie Delights.

Next up are cooling mats.  2 Little Hooligans has a great tutorial on how to make them.

Third, I need to get this printed off and framed.  I love it.  And the girls over at eighteen25 have subway art for just about every holiday, which means I can just switch the prints and have decor for the whole year!

This is the table runner I made for my aunt.  I had enough fabric left to make one for myself and all I have left to do is to back it and sew the bias tape on there.  So my last make this goal for January is to finish it!
Lose it

I plan on doing this daily workout plus the next one each day.  This one is from Downtownn.

I've already started this one!  It doesn't seem tough but it is!  This is from pieces in progress.

Eat it:

One thing to make is seasonings.  I would love to get my cabinets stocked.  Good for food and good for budget.  I know those seasoning packets are only around $1 but still!  Plus to have them always on hand...sigh. Perfect. (Self-Reliance by Jamie)

I would like to try this Honey Butter Pork tenderloin recipe for some of the meat I have in the freezer.  I found the recipe from Momma Hen's Kitchen.
Homemade pizza dough.  And it is a recipe that freezes well!  Plan is to make quite a few batches and throw them in the freezer for easy dinners!  Not only does Annie's Eats have the recipe but also tips and tricks to the perfect pizza.

And so I can win mom of the year award I'm going to try to make Two Maids a Milking's Taco Bake.  This + Andy = happiness.

Organize:

I'm a binder gal.  This is what I'm planning on doing to keep track of everything.  Nice and pretty...and organized!  Picture from IHeart Organizing.

I do have some other things planned for the month of January.

We are going to start date nights in our house.
Each month we will have 4 dates
- 1 mom and dad only date
- 1 mom and Josh date
- 1 dad and Josh date
-1 family date
And I can't tell you what the dates are!  They are a surprise!  The only rules are we take turns who plans the dates, a $30 limit and no excuses!

And of course saving money!
My January budget is:
$75/week on groceries (including cleaning supplies and health and beauty items)
$50/month for coupons & newspapers
$50/month for gifts to put back for Christmas and birthdays

What about you?  What are you doing this 2012?
