What did I get myself into?!?

Patience is not really my thing.  I need more of it.  I try.  I do.  But when I get an idea in my head I just do it.  Sometimes it doesn't even work out.  Sometimes it does.

So yesterday I was sitting on the couch in the living room staring at my kitchen.  We painted it and replaced the floor but those cabinets.  Horrible.  We are planning on getting new ones and new counter tops (and appliances and sink and faucet and lights) but one thing at a time.  So it dawned on me.  I'll paint them.

We wanted white cabinets anyways.  I have white paint left over from when we painted the trim.

Two feet.  Jump in.  (Luckily I have the best guy in the world - whose response was "have fun".  Thank God because I had already primed a cabinet!) :)

Let me assure you.  We have the oldest and the cheapest cabinets known to man.  And while the paint makes them look much better its a lot more work than I thought it was going to be.

And while it doesn't fix my issues of them falling apart or storage problems (whoever built them was an idiot.  They put shelves in that not only don't move but are so low I can't fit things like cereal, oil, syrup, and so on in them!) But I'm no longer embarrassed of my cabinets.

So I'm off to finish painting.  It's going to be a long day.  And I'm babysitting our niece in a few hours.  Long day.  Oh and did I mention it's Andy's birthday?

Happy birthday hunny.  I love you.  Thank you for supporting everyone of my ideas and always believing that I can do it all.  I hope your 32nd year of life is amazing!  I'm so blessed to have you in my life! :)

(Seriously, if I told him I was going to build a rocket and fly to the moon he would say alright.  Here are my tools.  Do you want help?  He's that great.)

Well, I think I've got a coat of primer that's dry.  Off to go paint some more.  Hopefully tomorrow I can get back on my schedule!! :)

I just finished switching kids' bedrooms around (which meant painting bc the room I put my boys in was painted purple by previous owners!). What a chore!! Even with all that, painting kitchen cabinets is WAY worse!!!!! I did it twice in our old house. Good luck!! :)

If you like how they turn out, please post pics and details on how exactly you did it! I am looking to do the same with my oak, builder grade cabinets! :) Thanks!
